How to Use, Model, and Sense Check Debt Amortisation
A practical guide to understanding different types of senior debt amortization, including sculpted repayments, annuities, bullet repayments and cash sweeps. We will talk about the circumstances in which each repayment type might be used. We will go through a practical exercise to model each one, discussing the relevant mathematical principles and how to apply them to achieve efficient model optimization. Finally, we will look at techniques for sense-checking repayments in a model built by someone (or somebot) else.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, you will learn how to:
- -How to sculpt debt repayments to a cover ratio
- How to dynamically calculate an annuity amount with variable interest rates
- Key considerations for modelling bullet repayments
- How senior cash sweep repayments flow through the cash waterfall
- Rules of thumb for sense-checking different types of repayments.
